IVANKA TRUMP MAY NOT STAY IN WHITE HOUSE ROLE IF DONALD TRUMP WINS IN 2020, SAYS IT DEPENDS ON 'MY KIDS AND THEIR HAPPINESS'

Ivanka Trump has told a TV interviewer that if her father wins re-election in 2020, she may not remain in her role in the White House.

During an interview on CBS, the daughter and adviser of President Donald Trump was asked about her future in the capital next year. She told Face the Nation that she would be "driven first and foremost by my kids and their happiness."

The 38-year-old and her husband, Jared Kushner, have three children: Arabella, 8, Joseph, 6, and Theodore, 3.

"My decisions will always be flexible enough to ensure that their needs are being considered first and foremost. So they will really drive that answer for me," she added.

"I think for me, I came down here—it's about the impact. It's about being able to deliver for the forgotten men and women that I met over the course of two years as I campaigned around this country.

"And over the last two and a half years as I've traveled to almost every state in this nation. It's about providing pathways to opportunity," she said, according to an excerpt of the interview conducted by Margaret Brennan on December 19, which will be played in full on Sunday.

The family relocated from New York to Washington in 2017, so that both could work at the White House. When she first arrived in the capital, she caused a stir when she told CBS that she never thought she would leave New York and said she wanted to treat her time in D.C "like I'm a visitor."

In her latest interview, she suggested that much of the work she had felt the strongest about, such as paid family leave policies and driving up investment in apprenticeship and skill building programs, was "unfinished," saying, "we've done so much, but it's not enough yet."

Ivanka Trump said, "The day I walk into the West Wing and I don't feel a shiver up my spine is the day I've been here too long.

"I still every day feel a tremendous humbling and sense of privilege that I'm able to do the work that I came to Washington to do, that the president's empowered me.

"And I feel just incredibly grateful to be able to give back to a country that's given me so much, and I'm doing my very best," she said.

In an excerpt of the interview released earlier in the week, the president's daughter was asked whether her father had "made peace" with becoming only the third president in history to be impeached.

Ivanka Trump said that he was "energized, as are 63-million plus voters who elected him to office," and described it as the "first purely partisan impeachment."

"He said it didn't even feel like he was being impeached. There is is tremendous energy on his side."

Newsweek has contacted Ivanka Trump's office for comment.

Ivanka Trump, senior advisor to the president of the United States and daughter of President Donald Trump, looks on during a plenary session of the Doha Forum in the Qatari capital on December 14, 2019. She has hinted that if her father wins the presidency in 2020, she may not stay in Washington DC.
