On March 18 local time, William wilder, a Republican presidential candidate and former governor of Massachusetts, announced his withdrawal from the US general election. Wilder left the Republican Party in 2016 to become a US vice presidential candidate as a free will party. In 2019, he returned to the Republican Party, after which he officially announced his participation in the primary.
During the campaign, wilder criticized Trump's use of declaring a state of emergency to obtain the wall building budget along the US Mexico border. He was considered the first Republican to challenge Trump's re-election, but his party's support rate was low.
