PRESIDENT TRUMP BLASTS MSNBC HOST: 'WHO THE HELL IS JOY-ANN REID?'
President Donald Trump appears to have entered into a new feud on Twitter, this time taking aim at MSNBC show host Joy Reid.
"Who the hell is Joy-Ann Reid? Never met her, she knows ZERO about me, has NO talent, and truly doesn't have the "it" factor needed for success in showbiz," Trump tweeted Saturday morning. "Had a bad reputation, and now works for the Comcast/NBC losers making up phony stories about me. Low Ratings. Fake News!"
The tirade came minutes after Trump tweeted the words "A Very Stable Genius!" something he called himself in 2018 amid circulating questions over whether he was mentally fit to serve as president.
While it is unclear what prompted the president's anger toward Reid, her Friday night appearance as a substitute for All In host Chris Hayes—where she reported several Trump-related news items—may have been the trigger, Esquire speculates.
On Saturday the journalist included potential grounds for Trump's impeachment as a topic of discussion on her show AM Joy, which is currently trending online.
"We have no particular desire to go after a president of the U.S.," Reid's guest, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee said on the show. "It is a sacred & somber responsibility but we cannot leave all of what has occurred in this administration on the table without doing our Article 1 duties & upholding the rule of law."
Lee, a Texas Democrat, is best known for authoring a bill that would call on the federal government to explore paying out reparations to the descendants of enslaved people.
The latest Trump Twitter stand-off comes nearly a week after he aimed harsh words at TV personality Chrissy Teigen.
His feud with Teigen began last Sunday evening, when the president described the Lip Sync Battle co-host as "filthy mouthed" after she and her husband, singer John Legend, appeared on an MSNBC show on criminal justice reform.
Trump appeared to be upset that his administration was not given enough credit on NBC's Nightly News with Lester Holt for helping to pass the First Step Act in 2018, later blasting Teigen, Legend, Holt and news commentator Van Jones from his social media account.
Teigen had tweeted about the president Sunday, calling him out for not having the courage to tag her in the comments he made about her. He had blocked her on Twitter, so she was unable to tag him in her response.
"My heart stopped because at that moment you know that you're about to get just the wildest group of people ever," she told fellow TV host Ellen DeGeneres Wednesday.
